Decalcomania Examples 3

In contrast to the previous monochromatic examples, here are several color experiments from the project "Fractal painting, au natural," by Claire Miller and Cara Norris for the autumn, 1999, fractal geometry course at Yale.
Finger paint and glossy finger paint paper were the materials for this project.
In the first three examples, paint was put on both pieces of paper before they were pressed together.

In the first, the top page was placed on the bottom page, without applying any appreciable presure, then lifted off and replaced 15 times. Note regions of multiple branching occur throughout the picture.
In the second, the paper was folded over on itself many times, vertically, horizontally, and diagonally, again without applying any pressure. We observe some fairly thick arcs along with many regions of delicate branching.
The third is another example of thicker arcs and delicate branching.
For the fourth example, paint was put on only one piece of paper, then the top and bottom were separated and placed togeter again, without pressure, about 20 times. A wonderfully detailed branching pattern resulted.
