Scaling
Scaling measures by how much an image is shrunk.
Scaling always means shrink toward the origin.
To accommodate general transformations, we allow
scaling by different amounts horizontall and vertically.
The amount of horizontal scaling is denoted by r.
The amount of vertical scaling is denoted by s.
The figure on the left has r = s = 1 and the figure on the right
has r = s = .75. Note that the lower left corner of the contracted
figure is still at the origin.
