6.J. Bifurcation Diagrams for the

Tent Map and the Logistic Map

Much of the structure of the ten t map bifurcation daigram can be understood by looking at the first few iterates.

For example, taking x₀ = 1/2, we plot

x₁ = T(1/2), x₂ = T²(1/2), x₃ = T³(1/2), and x₄ = T⁴(1/2) in red,

superimposed on the bifurcation diagram in light blue. Note how the main features of the bifurcation diagram are outlined by these first few iterates.
