6.J. Bifurcation Diagrams for the

Tent Map and the Logistic Map

Much of the structure of the ten t map bifurcation daigram can be understood by looking at the first few iterates.

For example, taking x0 = 1/2, we plot

x1 = T(1/2), x2 = T2(1/2), x3 = T3(1/2), and x4 = T4(1/2) in red,

superimposed on the bifurcation diagram in light blue. Note how the main features of the bifurcation diagram are outlined by these first few iterates.
