Michael Crichton

Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park explores the chaotic dynamics of a population of genetically engineered dinosaurs.
The story itself provides a good example of sensitive depenence on initial conditions.
At another level, flipping through the novel in a Providence bookstore, I decided to buy it because I happened to see on of the section heading pages with its fractal curve picture.
If I hadn't seen that picture, I may not have purchased the book.
Probably, this isn't the sort of sensitivity to initial conditions that Crichton intended to associate with hs book.
